Where it all began: The Spark that ignited the mission
By Modesta Ngei
This community was birthed during a deeply personal season of introspection—a time when I was seeking God’s direction for my next step. At first, I thought I’d simply support someone else’s vision. But as God often does, He redirected the plan—and asked me to lead.
Before 2023, the seeds were already being planted. In 2019, I had a profound awakening. In the depths of despair—when I had lost hope and was ready to give up on life—I encountered Jesus. It was at rock bottom, when I was about to end it all, that He met me. That moment marked the beginning of a healing journey: a slow unveiling, a deep transformation, and a rediscovery of identity. It began with how I saw myself—how I believed I was defined, even by the reflection in the mirror. And from there, everything changed.
I vowed never to return to that dark place again. And in early 2023, I entered a new season with God. I had just lost a job I once wanted to leave, but when it finally happened, it left me shaken. I began asking hard questions: “Who am I without this job? What value do I bring? Why is my mind, my skill, being questioned? Why would God allow this to happen to me?” The fear of being drawn back into that old pit of despair began to creep in again.
I spent weeks just crying, questioning, sitting in silence—and then, on a Sunday afternoon, I heard the Lord clearly say:
“I’ve removed everything so I can have your attention.”
And I responded: “You have it.”
From that moment of surrender, a new chapter began.
Out of that season of stillness, stretching, and seeking, this community was born.
What started quietly—women gathering in an upper room at KAG Buruburu—soon became something sacred. We met to pray, to worship, to sit with the Word. And one by one, women kept coming. From those moments, a movement began to take root—one that has grown and flourished beyond anything I could have imagined.
This is more than a community. It’s a testimony. A witness to what happens when we say yes to God—even when it’s unclear. When we surrender. When we show up. And when we let Him lead.
